DAY 1: Marrakech – Imlil – AROUMD – SIDI Shamharush – Toubkal Refuge.
Departure by private car from Marrakech around from 9 am and exhilarating to drive over 2 hours south canyons and overpasses in the city Berber (1740m) Imlil, known as Little Morocco "Chamonix 'Along the foothills of the high-level-west of the Atlas Mountains, a major trail mule trails, with branches in all directions.
Here we left our vehicle to strike about 4 km. south of the Berber people Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m) and the hamlets of Taourirt, Targa, and Imoula up and down the Stark pending, the magnificent Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal massif immediately before us. We stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the valley of Assif Aït Mizane apparently built house to house in a great stimulus moraine overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of fruit and vegetables.
We realize there are other 8km. education equally picturesque village of Sidi Shamharush, a Berber village next to a waterfall and small stream of new housing built of adobe, one apparently a bit chaotic at the other. This town is a place of pilgrimage for devout Muslims, and that is where there is a marabout shrine — forbidden to non Muslims, and says it is a relic of a pre-Islamic religion. We rested for a picnic, in view of the mighty Jebel Toubkal at 4167m the highest peak in North Africa, before leaving the Toubkal refuge for dinner and overnight shelter.
Day 2: Refuge Toubkal – Jebel Toubkal Summit – SIDI Shamharush – AROUMD – Imlil – Marrakech.
Very early breakfast 6 am, long range, after a hour, three non-technical climb, but steep, the highest peak in North Africa (4167m). The picture here is just amazing. This remarkable rise and see what comes doing. The first recorded ascent of the peak in 1923, was made by French climbers V. Berger, M. and arcs Segonzae Marques, and many serious hikers have been very rewarding the effort.
Day 2 of this trip can be lengthy and, if possible, we recommend taking the option of three days ascension the Toubkal to really enjoy the experience.
When ready, we'll take the South or South Ikkhibi Circus for a simple guide – your – 2 to 3 hours fall back to the picnic shelter. Now moved north along steeply descending, zigzag paths of the upper slopes of the valley of Assif n'Isouhouanem n'Ouagounss the Berber village of Sidi Shamharush (3106m). Before the people, we will see a tree sacred to the local Berbers, in the hanging strips of colored cloth and the pile of stones around the trunk. We down on the valley of Assif Aït Mizane, and zig-zag paths around the rocks of granite and basalt gray to around 8 km from Aroumd village notable (Aremd) (1840m), commander of one of the most fertile valleys of the High Atlas Mountains with terraced, irrigated plots and fields corn, onions and fruit trees everywhere.
Here we stop to picnic, before continuing along the valley floor, thence a zig well defined horseshoe-zag path on the river about 4 km. to reach about 5 hours in the afternoon after a long day of work, return to the Berber village of Imlil and a welcome drink, or two of mint tea at the home of our guide Mohamed Ait Idar higher before Back in Marrakech and arrived around 7pm.
